Matt & Andrea

We would like to start out by saying how much we admire your courage in what must be a very difficult decision, and we are honored that you are considering us as parents for your child. Although we have never met before, we share the common goal of ensuring that your child is loved, cared for and provided with as many opportunities in life as possible.

We long dreamed of starting a family and we tried to conceive naturally for several years, but without success. Although our infertility was hard news to deal with, we believed that pregnancy was not our ultimate goal, but rather parenthood was. We sought out adoption and were blessed to be able to adopt our son, Leo, in 2017. He is growing into a fine boy who loves music, swimming, playing, reading, and family time. We are also confident that we can provide a secure, nurturing, and stimulating environment for another child, and we look forward to sharing our family’s passion for adventure, learning, and discovering the world around us with our future child.

A little bit about us… We met in 2003 in the Midwest USA while we were both living and working there. We hit it off quickly, probably because we were both government professionals with a strong interest in public service. In 2005, Matt proposed to Andrea, which turned out to be a somewhat complicated decision as Matt had recently received orders to serve abroad. After much consideration, Andrea said yes, and we started our first adventure together.

Andrea is from the Midwest, and lived there for her entire life. After graduating from high school, she moved to Chicago where she completed undergraduate and graduate school. Andrea has an older brother and a younger sister. Her brother has three daughters, and her sister has four little boys. We’ve been lucky to have spent a lot of time with these nieces and nephews, and all of them are amazing cousins to Leo!

Matt was also born in the Midwest, but only lived there for a very short period of time as a child. He was an Air Force brat, and his family was stationed all over the United States, from South Dakota to California. When Matt was 6, his father moved the family to England where they lived for 3 wonderful years before moving back to the Midwest, where his father retired. Matt is the youngest of three children, having an older brother and sister. Matt’s brother has two daughters that Matt and Andrea both adore, along with the other nieces and nephews on Andrea’s side of the family. Matt also has many cousins, and a relatively large extended family.

Matt and Andrea have many hobbies, which include photography, music, running, dance, and literature. Matt has been playing the drums since he was young, and he dabbles a bit with the guitar. Leo has a kid’s guitar and drum set too. Both Matt and Andrea believe in creating vast opportunities for a child to express themselves through art, music, sport, or whatever other interests they might have.

We are a hard-working couple who enjoys travel, new experiences, and learning about other cultures. We have lived abroad in Asia, Africa, and Europe, and look forward to living overseas again one day. We are currently focused on spending time with extended family in the Unites States but enjoy creating new bonds wherever we go and are lucky to have friends from around the globe who have enriched our lives greatly. We are excited to share our life of adventure with another child! We are also excited about sharing our adventures with you, should you choose us. We currently send yearly updates to Leo’s birth mom, enjoy sharing his progress, and have offered to meet in person. We would be interested in a similar level of openness again.

We are proud Americans, and are also happy that our service with the government also allows us to live in the US for a few years, as we have a home outside of our nation’s capital. We are excited to be able to raise a child overseas in addition to the country that we love so much, the United States. We’ve been blessed with the chance to travel the world and experience other cultures because of Matt’s career. We are now ready for the opportunity to build our family further through adoption, and are looking forward to the opportunity to share our lives and world experiences with another child.

We talk to Leo a lot about the possibility of growing our family, and he is really excited to have a sibling! He’s very affectionate to his cousins and friends at daycare, and we know he will be the best big brother!!! We promise your baby will be loved and cherished by us and our family and friends.

Thank you for taking time to read our profile. We are really excited to share our lives and blessings with another child! We wish you well in whatever decision you make, and would love to hear from you and answer any questions you have about us.
